Chairman outlines the role of local government
After a recent Local Government Association survey with councils reporting a rise in housing benefit applications and homelessness, mental health problems, debt advice and struggling businesses, Chairman Cllr Margaret Eaton OBE talks to LGC's Sam Hughes about what local government needs to do now and answers calls from the Chief Executive of the Citizens Advice Bureau to look at the way they handle debt collection.
